During Monday’s monologue for “The Daily Show,” the comedian lashed out at the president for posting an AI-generated image of himself to look like Jesus Christ. Before getting into details about the scandal, Stewart couldn’t help but point out that Trump’s Jesus patient who appeared to be healing in the image looked an awful lot like him.
“Oh my god. Wait, the guy in the bed… Am I okay?” Stewart said. “Look, I know I don’t have the stamina and courage of my MTV days, but I didn’t know we were already here. I didn’t realize my gaze had reached leprous territory.”
He continued, “I mean, from the photo, it looks like it was touch and go with me for a while. But thank God, in my time of need, I was surrounded by family. There’s my dear wife, Amy Lynn, with her hands clasped in prayer. My brother, Sergeant Chisel Jaw. Oh, look back, there’s Pappy Joe. He and I stormed into the capital together.”
As Stewart continued, he mentioned the strange addition of an eagle, as well as the hand of a random man, who, according to the comedian, “seems to be taking advantage of my illness to touch my penis.”
“This is scaring the hell out of me,” he said. “You know, I’m glad Jesus Trump brought his healing orb. By the way, can I tell you what I like most about this picture? I like that AI can’t do much.”
He added: “AI is like, ‘Look, I can give you the fireworks and the healing powers and I can turn you into Jesus, but you weigh what you weigh. I’m sorry. It just is what it is.'”
Stewart also enthused about Trump’s explanation of the photo, in which he said he thought the image depicted him as a doctor, not the Messiah.
“That’s you as a doctor. Oh, I’m sorry. What is this? Urgent care,” Stewart said before cutting to an image of Leonardo da Vinci’s “The Last Supper.” “You introduced yourself as Jesus. They fucking called you… God, do you even care to keep lying to us? Is it over? Has this relationship stopped? Your lies used to have a real spark.”
“You need to find your happy place fast. We expect better lies, sir,” Stewart continued. “And may I remind you, Mr. President, we are in the middle of a devastating war with Iran. Can you just address that directly with the American people without all your other weird stuff? Can you just do it once?”
